A highly decorative abstract expressionist still life painting by well listed printmaker, muralist, painter, Guy MacCoy. The painting is in excellent condition aside from a small 1/8" round tear in to the board and another 3/16" tear in the upper right corner. The painting has a label on the reverse from the Emerson Gallery, Encino, Ca.
Guy MacCoy is well known to collectors of California art for his silk screen prints that are relatively common. However, his oil paintings are much less common. This being a particularly fine example.
MacCoy studied at the Kansas City Art Institute, the Art Students League in NYC, and Columbia University He worked at the Federal Art Project, cofounded the Western Serigraph Society and taught at the Jepson art school and Otis Institute until his retirement in 1965.
