A splendid California Impressionist painting of Andreas Canyon in Palm Springs by the well known California artist, Wilton McCoy. The painting is in excellent condition with only one repair of a small hole, lower center right. The painting has been recently professionally cleaned and newly framed. The painting is signed lower left, and on the reverse is titled "Andreas Canyon" and again signed "Wilton McCoy - 1953".
Wilton McCoy was a student of Henry Richter and Sam Hyde Harris whose influence can bee readily seen in this painting. McCoy specialized in desert landscapes and paintings of the Grand Teton mountains in Wyoming. This rendering of this well known Palm Springs landmark is particularly appealing and reflective of some of his finest work.
