An original pencil drawing by renowned artist of the American West, Olaf Wieghorst. This drawing was the cover page to Olaf Wieghorst's own personal sketchbook. There are two drawings on the page, one of a cowboy and bucking bronco, inscribed, "Sketchbook of O. Wieghorst, El Cajon, Calif." and another drawing of the head of a Native American inscribed below the drawing, "To my friend Bill with best wishes for a happy trail ahead. Olaf"

Olaf Wieghorst was born in Denmark the son of an etcher and engraver who introduced his son to both painting and horses. Wieghorst came to New York in 1918 then traveled throughout the Southwest. In 1923 Wieghorst began serving as a New York policeman before retiring to El Cajon, Calif. in 1944, where the majority of his finest works were produced.

His works are highly sought after and are in many of the important collections and museums featuring Southwest American art.
