Description
A fine and wonderful Native American vintage trinket basket woven by the Makah tribe of the Northwest coast at the tip of the Olympic peninsula of Washington state. The basket measures 2 3/8"h X 4"dia. and is in excellent condition aside from one of the thin splints at the upper rim that hold in place the cedar bark strip. Otherwise there is no other damage to the basket visible.
Makah baskets were woven from the 1860's to 1930 and I believe that this basket could easily be late 19th century to early 20th century.
