A great cast brass ashtray, perfect for cigars or cigarettes probably commemorating the renaming of the "Terminal Island Naval Shipyard" to "long Beach Naval Shipyard". The ashtray shows in cast relief an eagle above a docked ship and buildings, probably the Long Beach skyline. In cast relief there is "Long Beach Naval Shipyard, March 1, 1948". The ashtray is in excellent condition and may well have been made right at the shipyard.
This is a historic and useful artifact of an important era of American Naval history.
