A particularly fine and rare Thermoplastic, 6th plate, Daguerreotype case featuring a charming design of a mother and child, probably derived from from a well known painting of the early 19th century. The case contains a label listing, "S. PECK's PATENT, OCT 3rd, 1854" and other patent information.
The case is in excellent condition aside from some chipping to a few of the corners and one loose hinge. The photo accompanying this piece is of a later period and is unrelated to this period piece.
